Madame Gao Shuquing, Christina Campbell and Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Canada Lu Shumin
International Women's Day
On March 4, 2008 Ms. Christina Campbell, 2007 Special Olympics Team Canada athlete was invited by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Canada, Lu Shumin and Madame Gao Shuquing, to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, in Ottawa to help celebrate International Women’s Day and to share her 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games experience.
Among the invited guests in attendance at the International Women’s Day reception were Margaret McCuaig-Johnston, Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy, Technology & Programs Sector of Natural Resources Canada; Liberal MP Raymonde Folco; Liberal MP Yasmin Ratansi; and Secretary of State (Foreign Affairs and International Trade) (Sport), Ms. Helena Guergis.
Ms. Campbell’s Special Olympics appearances have included co-emcee of the 2007 Special Olympics Canada Ottawa Reception in Honour of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger; Guest Speaker at the 25th Anniversary Special Olympics Festival in Toronto; and spokesperson for the 2007 STAPLES Business Depot “Give a Dollar. Share a Dream.” in store fundraiser.
Special Olympics Canada is proud of the opportunities that organizations and communities provide to Special Olympics athletes both on and off the playing field and is honoured to share the many accomplishments of athletes like Ms. Campbell.
