Chief Murray Faulkner of the London Police Service presents on behalf of the Law Enforcement Torch Run a cheque of 3.1 million dollars (representing the total funds raised in Canada in 2007) to Margaret Wiebe, Special Olympics Canada Board member, Arthur Rea, Special Olympics Canada athlete and Board member, and Colin MacKinnon, Chairman of the Special Olympics Canada Board of Directors.
On Saturday, April 26, 2008 The Law Enforcement Torch Run held their second annual National Meeting in conjunction with the 2008 Special Olympics Canada National Conference. Law Enforcement Torch Run representatives from across the country gathered in Toronto to share information and ideas about the Law Enforcement Torch Run and its support of Special Olympics programs. As part of the Welcome Reception on Friday of the National Conference, Special Olympics Canada recognized the significant contribution of The Law Enforcement Torch Run. In 2007, The Law Enforcement Torch Run raised 3.1 million dollars in support of Special Olympics programs across the country.
On Saturday May 3, and Sunday, May 4, Special Olympics Canada made a presentation at the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Executive Meetings in Montreal, Quebec. Special Olympics Canada met with the Executive and members of the Provincial Chiefs Associations to thank them for their longstanding support and tremendous partnership.
